Facilities

Over the past 10 years, the University of Portsmouth has invested more than £70 million to provide students with world-class, modern academic, recreational, and sports facilities. The university boasts state-of-the-art equipment and a 24/7 library that accommodates up to 850 students, offering over 450 networked computers, more than 380,000 books, and 700,000 journals and e-books. All students have free internet access. The university also features numerous sports centers and over 60 student clubs, providing plenty of opportunities for recreation and social engagement outside of class.

Faculty Structure

The University of Portsmouth is organized into five faculties:

Faculty of Business and Law

This faculty delivers teaching and research across all major areas of law, business, and management—including accounting, economics, logistics, human resource management, and law. It comprises the Portsmouth Business School and the Portsmouth Law School.

Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries

This faculty includes the School of Architecture, School of Art, Design and Performance, School of Creative Technologies, and the School of Film, Media and Communication. Subjects covered include fashion design, illustration, creative writing, media studies, architecture, animation, film, and computer game technologies.

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

This faculty houses the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, the School of Area Studies, History, Politics and Literature, the School of Education and Sociology, and the School of Languages and Applied Linguistics.

Faculty of Science and Health

This faculty offers programs in subjects such as Earth and environmental sciences, physical and human geography, psychology, dental health, and sport and exercise science. It includes the School of Biological Sciences, Dental Academy, School of the Environment, Geography and Geosciences, School of Health and Care Professions, School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, Department of Psychology, and the School of Sport, Health and Exercise Science.

Faculty of Technology

This faculty consists of the School of Civil Engineering and Surveying, School of Computing, Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation, School of Energy and Electronic Engineering, School of Mathematics and Physics, School of Mechanical and Design Engineering, and the Learning at Work Department. Key subjects include engineering, cosmology and astrophysics, informatics, health informatics, mathematics, and physics.

Scholarships

A £1,600 fee reduction for the first year of study. Eligible students from selected countries will be automatically awarded this scholarship.

A £5,000 fee reduction for the first year of study. Limited in number and awarded to high-achieving students from selected countries. This is a merit-based scholarship.
