The University of Lincoln has a rich history with several name changes since its establishment in 1861 as the Hull School of Art. Over different periods, it was known as Endsleigh College, Hull College, University of Humberside, University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, and finally, in 2001, it officially became the University of Lincoln.

Facilities
Over the past two decades, the University of Lincoln has invested more than £350 million into the Brayford Pool Campus, including upgrades to existing buildings and the construction of new facilities.
Key projects include the £28 million Isaac Newton Building and the £19 million Sarah Swift Building. The university is also focused on expanding its Medical School, training the next generation of doctors.
The Great Central Warehouse Library, completed in 2004 and located on the Brayford Campus, is an invaluable resource featuring over 250,000 journals and 400,000 printed and electronic books, along with many special collections.
The Isaac Newton Building serves students in computer science, engineering, mathematics, and physics, providing access to specialist equipment within Minster House and the Joseph Banks Laboratories. Facilities include a medical station, clinical skills suite for pharmacy, consultation rooms, and dedicated areas for animal behavior research.
The Sarah Swift Building houses clinical suites designed to simulate hospital and home environments. It is equipped with advanced patient simulation technologies and new psychology laboratories, including a dynamic 3D body scanner.
